The Second Oleta River O-Event was great!!!
We had music all the time, and the atmosphere was very happy.
The weather was perfect; not too cold, not to hot, really nice to run and to enjoy the Orienteering.
We were very glad to have in attendance FLO President Jerry Sirmans who presented the FLO medals at the awards ceremony. Also we welcomed Salomon Burak, my sponsor from Argentina, who helped me a lot with Orienteering in the last 7 years. He gave a Tango disc to all the winners! Jerry and Salomon, Thank you for coming!!!
All the participants got a complimentary whistle, and all who pre-registered before October 12 received a commemorative T-Shirt, thanks to our sponsors, Carina Lancewicky, Mario Goldberg, Lewis Druss, SILVA, Go Orienteering, Devora Benchimol, Vivian Safdeye, True Vision Optical, Bubbles Swim School, Kosherland, Soar Team and South Florida Construction Group.
I want to thank all the helpers, including those from FLO, Bob Putnam and Jonathan Linforth for helping us with the maps and the courses and to Mike Dempsey and Ray Bruneau for helping us with the event promotion.
There were a total of 120 participants - a new record - we are very proud of that turnout. Together with the helpers who did not compete there were about 140 people. We hope to increase that attendance even more in each future Orienteering Event.
